Some DNS providers are not set up to handle CNAME aliases, but will allow you to add basic "A record" addresses.
In general, we encourage people to use CNAMEs to point their custom domains to our server, rather than A records, so that if we ever need to change the IP address of our main server, the local addresses will be updated automatically. However, in practice, we do not expect to move our IP address frequently, so this is not likely to be a significant complication.
If you need to use a DNS A record, our primary public IP address is 216.18.2.59.
